personal needs and budget if you're interested in having your own personal Disney Vacation Planner I'd love to chat with you my services are always free a little disclaimer here before we get started one the prices are in u.s. dollars Rory my fellow Canadian friends with the fluctuating dollar it's difficult to keep the rates updated to this budget worksheet is only a helpful planning tool so that you have a realistic budget in mind and in no way an official travel quote please contact your friendly Disney travel planner for an official quote if you have any questions please don't hesitate contact me I have included my contact information in the video notes below now let's get started on this main page you'll see a breakdown of all of the costs at the bottom you can see the different sections which you can click through budget which is the page that were on resorts porches a list of resort choices daily rate which shows you the daily rate for each Resort Hotel you can see the dates this about down the side and the hotels is that all along the top dining which shows you the daily rate for dining tickets and that shows you the average daily rate for per ticket choice and you see that the ticket price goes down the longer your stay and then we have parking which gives you the daily hotel rate for parking if you choose to drive or rent a car okay so let's go back to the main page and I'll show you how to fill the worksheet up I usually start by entering the total budget amount that you would like to work with and then we can pop down and start entering in your expenses your expenses start here on line 14 in the sample budget I based it on to adults for a seven-night stay so in line 14 you can see here it's a drop-down menu and you can choose your resort of choice here I put these guys at Disney pop century resort now let's figure out your average price per night so if you click over to the daily rate tab and choose your dates let's say you want to travel me first checking out May 8 and staying at pop century show us the resorts along the top here pop century is my first column so I go down to May first and then you can actually just highlight from May 1st to May 7th because it's her night stay and you'll see at the bottom here it gives us an average daily rate it shows the number of nights and then we can pop back over to our budget worksheet and enter in our sending lights and the cost per night was 1 1 571 and then it's going to give us our total amount here next we enter in our resort tax there's only any one resort tax and over here you'll see my note it says 13.5% at all star resorts otherwise it's 12.5% so the tax on Disney sports entry it's roughly 5% which gave us one point four eight seven next we're moving on to park tickets and this is also a drop down menu so you can select what type of cook tickets you want these ones are going to be set to one park per day then you go over to your ticket tab and you're gonna have to do a little bit of math here for this one we are doing one park per day for seven days and you'll see that the 7-day price is sixty two dollars and you multiply that by two people which gives us one hundred twenty four dollars and we hop back over to our budget and we go here and we're doing seven days 124 dollars and it gives us our total amount moving along and we do a similar thing for the Dining Plan there's a jump down menu can choose which dining plan you want and we pop over to the dining table and figure out how much it's gonna cost for dining so a little bit of math here as well and we have our sample here says a Disney quick-service Dining Plan which is fifty to fifty per adult per day so when you multiply that by two and it's giving us 105 dollars per day we just pop it in our seven days hundred five dollars and it'll give us our total amount and then you will see some other options under the expenses tab the memory maker this one is 169 if you buy it before your trip it is 199 park then you have your options for travel if you're flying driving parking car rentals so this is your whole transportation section we fill in the information just as we did above and then you have additional lines to put in your budget for your souvenirs and gifts for your purchase food and drinks there's also a column for special event tickets like Mickey's not-so-scary Halloween party Mickey's very Merry Christmas party early hours events or VIP tours so you can pop that all in there and that's it well there you have it I hope you find this budget worksheet helpful if you think that something else should be included please comment your request below thank you for taking the time to watch this tutorial and have a magical

and comment anyone here and questions or whatever you know if you want to tell us how much you love us that'd be awesome if you want to tell us how much you hate us we're used to it so just let us know at this video we're going to be going over some tips tricks money-saving tips and tricks for Disney World some of them are money saving a lot of money saving some of them are our favorite just tips right but the truth is any good tip or trick is a money saving tip or trick why cuz you're spending so much money when you go to Disney event anything you could squeeze out of it really gets more value for your money so this is no particular order but maybe it is no because to the first one is gonna be stay on site I think it's really cool to say I'd say you do not save much money by not staying on site that being said we've only stayed on site so though I've stayed off saying when I was younger little I was younger in the last few years we've I've only stayed on site so we can't give full input on thing off site in the recent years but we really loved staying on site I think give any input into be little because I don't think I ever was but good that being said ya know standing on say was it's Dave off site we've all stayed off site now that Disney we're stayed off say it done different hotels it's not the same as being yet Disney Hotel yeah if you're going with a large family and you have to get multiple rooms then doing something like a villa might be cheaper for you off site but the typical family size you know we right now it's two of us in one child if it's two and two or even maybe even up to six people if you're gonna stand like a moderate resort then then then you're you're better off staying on site but always shop around but on site has a lot of a lot of great advantages you have the transportation through the parks every day you have the Magical Express you don't pay for parking your weight in the lines for parking and you're in the Disney bubble that's the biggest plus is that your whole vacation is Disney it's not like you leave Disney and you go to a you don't know hotel then you in the real world and then you go back into the Disney bubble the next day your entire stay is in the Disney bubble and it's a magical bubble if you don't know what it is look it up and go there and figure it out you'll see that staying on site just high water if you're going in the summer or actually pretty much anytime it's very hot in Florida it can just cover weeks ago a couple weeks ago around the you know they'd be New Year season it wasn't any reason Florida so when it's chilly you're still doing a lot of walking exercising but how much stay hydrated that's the tip stay hydrated and a key to staying hydrated this Disney gives you free ice water you know how many times I see people buying bottles of water does he gives you free ice water it's filtered water it's the same order that they use for the fountain sodas it's basically Dasani water and in the tree they have it at every cup they even have it ready a lot of the times they'll have it ready yeah but I'll be counting for you any little kiosks it sells food that it also sells a fountain soda will give that to you you don't ever ever ever have to spend three four dollars whatever it is on a bottled water you never have to just always you can every hour we drink like every hour to where you go and get some ice water drink hydrate you also give them a bottle and fill it up lots of times they'll do that for you too and then also in front of most table service restaurants that have a queue outside there's a water jug there too that he can fill up so and they have comes and stuff usually only things you find about this cooler but they have stuff that you could drink so water free water do not buy the four or five dollar bottles of water at this age just not worth it that work do you remember that guy oh yeah I told about the free one he's like why don't you tell me this five days ago and they spent hundreds of dollars on water we're Jewish we don't pay for war anyway the next tip is pressed pennies press pennies are a cheap souvenir and they are tons of fun this is our press penny book we bought the book at Disney World that you can see it covering up session in the middle area and we have tons of pennies in here and these all have different Disney's designs on them press penny is a real cool way like your first time on a ride you really like the ride you get penny from the ride they cost 51 cents it's 50 cents to do and then the penny that gets pressed and it's cool I yell at her daughter she really loved that she enjoyed search she do looking at all the different machines there's design that she liked and listen so nice on the breaks at Disney World where cost $35 you know 250 dollars for a t-shirt it's nice to be able to get a souvenir for 51 cents you can get quite a few of them and it doesn't really break the bank show that's a good tip another thing is pins pin trading picture he's a lot of fun it L it really love that she loves pin trading Sheila's being able to go over the cast members and say well can I see your pins and they show it to her interesting I want that one and then she gives one that she doesn't like so much for one that she likes more is your some of our pins we have for them in a book so that it's easy for us to look at and go through now some of these pins are you like the first pin so these pins we bought make me went to the contemporary for breakfast we put a contemporary pin an epitaph if not then I love in the end of Jones you bought that Indiana Jones pin at the parks but a whole well almost all the rest of them we've traded got through trades or maybe Caspar but just gave us one because they liked us or whatever it was yeah yella Kant was given that one by a cast member on our first trip while we were on the ferry boat and yeah most of these pins that we got on eBay now I know people are gonna tell you do not buy pins on eBay I disagree I say bye pins on eBay why they're cheap and I don't care if they're fake or if they're real I mean I prefer real pin but if it's a fake pin and I like the design I don't care I'm keeping it for me the memory and yeah alright but if it's something as a character that I like whatever it is and I don't like it I trade it away and I get another one and most someone's you trade for our fakes anyway you know that's true so got a lot of fakes from the customers so the real ones that want you buy the fake ones you trade and I mean we've met other people trading pins and I would say that listen most of my pins are fate the scrappers Minister that and and they would be like yep most of mine are fake dude you're honest about it if you tell them so sure you're trading with other people I'm gonna train with the cast and burn it's just for the fun of it especially your kids will love it but we're trading with other people just say we think we must use our scrapper no these are fake and it usually they don't mind I mean what's never fake – okay then they'll work they'll bake oh well that's what I really like even though it's this one I really like even those fake swords a fake one of one I've been looking for ya so don't worry about that and also when you do buy an eBay they say that all of them are fake that's not true most of them are fake but you get some real answers real ones in there and also you can buy it you can buy it apart so you find a few that you really like let's say you really like Moana you really whatever character you really like you find a couple but you buy it add it to your collection next tip Boober yeah I think this is a great tip there were a few times we got back to the bus because we stayed late at the parks and we got back to the bus hey we're at pops a tree wrap half century of his left stay and it was packed it's the biggest resort with the most beds and it was the busy season and it's one of the most busy resorts and therefore the bus lines are long and after spending all day in the park when you're in let's go home mode you don't want to shake a child or cranky or even if nobody's cranking even if you just push and you're in you're in the mode the thought process is let's go home bad guy shower go to bed and you don't want to sit and wait you know 30 minutes for a 15 minute bus ride you want to be back in five minutes show Eber uber will come to the parks and pick you up we've did it a few times and it was like it was under $10 every time it was like questions are staying on property yeah we're not going very far it was like six eight dollars yeah six yeah it's friends on which which switches are staying at and which Park you're in but they get average let's see it ours around $10 yeah figure about 10 bucks each time so that's a great tip you don't want to wait ten bucks buses are a great asset when you're staying on society especially getting there in the morning the buses aren't great but sometimes the midday or ended day or after the fireworks when everyone's by the bus stops okay or flake for example we had breakfast one day at Chef Mickey's and you can technically take the bus to Magic Kingdom and then walk to the contemporary we're running late you call the uber just a few bucks we got door-to-door you know much easier did you have those new mini man it's 25 bucks more expensive I don't recommend that if you're trying to save money while senator minivans only work was only available at certain resorts and so it's dying to go to Disney look for deals look for deals I say this book when you think you're gonna go if you want to go at a certain time book at that time if that's the only time you're available booking early it's $200 you put down the book but even after you book continue looking for deals let's say you book for a year from now or six months from now in two months a deal might come out and they're not gonna give it to you automatically but if you see the deal you can call them up and change your your reservation and get that deal there's lots of deals 25% off free dining there's all sorts of deals be dining we do it almost every year for the last few years all people say it might mean stopping soon this is the last year there but if you catch it you see it could call them also now there's a deal I think for a family of four until March there's always deals even if you book last year if you're staying there before those dates you go and get that deal call them up they'll add it on it do you think they'll give you back the difference if you've already paid or they'll subtract the difference if you haven't paid yet yeah there's always deals but there might not always be a deal for the time you're reserved but that deal might come up a few months down the road is just always check back mouth shavers is a good resource for that that's right look for yield history also will have a history of all the deals so you can see when deals typically come out and what those deals typically are so you can check that also always just call and they'll tell you if there's any deals or anyway anything new I would call is put you on hold for hours yep and they're busy they put your home where it is try not to call try to be self-sufficient but if you have to you can't cool food in the parks most theme parks do not allow you to bring fruit into the parks Disney does this need lets you bring food and drink like we went to great adventure than a little spring in foods like Disney that you bring in food no I think finally I I'm diabetic so I think eventually they finally like called it's called someone had someone check my ID and all like okay you can bring in this food but it's it's crazy Disney you can bring anything you can bring your silly course me like you bring lunch you can bring snacks you can bring baby formula you could anything you need through the day food any snacks if you don't want to spend the money yeah bring it with you and even if you have Dining Plan we brought snacks with us obviously water water bottles that we refill but yeah right you bring snacks we really we really like breaking the Smuckers Uncrustables the you got usually get the 33% which is also a whole wheat bread there's so many flavors is the regular there's a honey peanut butter shea butter and honey yeah there's the chocolate one there's a lot of the they're great because you can keep them in the freezer in your resort and then just stick them in your bag a few hours later when it's the middle of the day they're perfect perfect a few hours later after your breakfast after your snacks after you get to the park and they're just hungry pop it out and it's fresh yeah we love them they come frozen individually wrapped airtight seal and they buy it it's like five of them for like five bucks you get them on sale get them on sale I'll swing for sales and yeah you just bring them with you or your room Amazon haven't delivered to you resort park they're more expensive like five bucks each so you could buy them in advance and if you're if you're waiting online and you're hungry boom you're waiting for parade you're hungry boom it's one of those things you don't have to now oh let's go run to eat you could just eat something there and yeah yeah it's a great little thing yeah one more tip and then we're gonna we're gonna end this video and we'll do another tip video for you Oh cuz we've so many tips so you're gonna get a bonus tips so let's tip here is stroller a stroller if you have a young child that's I'd say 7 or Andi depending on the child's size haul and stamina you walk it Disney you walk a lot of this new Wi-Fi in Epcot I think you walk you walk just walking around the world showcases gets tiring for adults it gets really tiring for kids especially at the end of the day so it's time to toe to take a break in during the parade they have a stroller they could sit in the know if the necessarily standard there's no place to really sit during the fireworks they could sit in wait instead of standing and waiting it means at the end of the day go back go back to the stroller it makes things a lot easier for the kids we like bringing our stroller but you can also rent you also if you know that if you know that like on Epcot day you'll be doing more you can rent just for that day I figure people that do that you can rent just for the day we like being our own because it saves the money yeah we do that we crunch the numbers and bringing your onus is cheaper I mean we actually bought a new stroller our first time we went to Disney because buying a brand-new stroller was about the same price no it was about the same price for the amount of days we were going to rent your stroller and the airlines that you bring your strollers on it doesn't count as a bag it's free so why not take advantage of that and bring your own stroller instead of renting one so bring your stroller also it doubles as a good place to keep stuff yeah right you can keep if there's something you don't want to necessarily bring on the ride but it's not too valuable that you're afraid I might get stolen it also be like a good tip I mean you have your backpack that you'll have backpack fanny pack I don't know any Scottie best guys more on that another time we'll talk about that later any anything you have that you have your essentials you know you're right your money or camera or whatever essentials you need medications you have any medications keep that on you keep that on you but if you have like a bag that's just your spare bag that has you know your change of clothes or kids change of clothes your your umbrella that's boson Cristobal's that we talked about the Uncrustables II feel water bottle on you it's a spare bag and you can leave the spare mag in the stroller right no valuables in it just in case but you leave out in the stroller and it's that's great sorry it also like we said don't leave valuables of destroyed it is Disney it is a magical place most people there are they're on vacation with their families and they are not there to steal your stuff but it's the real world and it does happen occasionally all the people have ever done have been caught so I mean you think that people would be smart enough not to do it again leave your valuables on you yeah the strollers do get stolen and things inside the strollers do get stolen so leave your valuables on you at all times why some people like renting because sometimes even though we feel like it's cheaper to bring your own if you do choose to rent they do have insurance further for the rented strollers if if something happens to it filler places but that is true that is true okay so that's our first tips video I hope you guys enjoyed it if you have any questions comments please let us know please leave your questions and comments in the comments and subscribe and tell your friends and like this video if you liked it thumbs down and if you don't like it don't pay away alright thank you so much see you next video

john-boy everybody in today's video I am going to be answering a question that I get more than any other question that I am ever asked collectively in any subject matter ever and it is how do you rent Disney Vacation Club points and is it worth it so I'm answering that question today this is gonna be easier to explain to you using screenshots from my computer so we're gonna go do that I'll do some voiceovers and I'll come back here and catch you at the end Disney World has lots of different hotel options on Disney World property and there are lots of perks of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort you get access to extra Magic Hours you can park on site for free you can make your Fast Pass Plus reservations 60 days in advance so there's lots of different reasons why you would want to stay on Disney property and by renting Disney Vacation Club points you have all of those same amenities all right so when you're considering where you want to stay at Disney you know there are the value hotels which do appeal to kids they're pretty low relatively speaking price point but if you want more space and better location for the money renting Disney Vacation Club points is the way to go so there are lots of different Disney Vacation Club properties available at the Walt Disney World Resort so this is a list of all of them that are in the United States so obviously Hawaii we're not gonna talk about right now go on so we've got Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort you can literally walk to the Magic Kingdom or you can take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom or to Epcot which is very convenient there are two options available at wilderness lodge they have Boulder Ridge and copper creek copper Creek is the newer ones that are there that also have cabins that are absolutely beautiful and those are a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom you've got two options at Animal Kingdom villas you've got jumbo house and Kidani village these are next door to Animal Kingdom park but you do have to take a bus or car and then we've got to the beach club villas and the boardwalk villas these are attached to the backside of Epcot or the front side of Hollywood Studios so you can take a boat ride or you can walk to both of those parks old Key West and Saratoga Springs are two of the original Disney vacation club properties and they are ride up boat ride away from Disney Springs which is like a shopping area of Disney used to be called Downtown Disney we've got the Polynesian villas and bungalows and that is right a hop skip and a jump away from the Magic Kingdom via a boat ride or a monorail ride you can also monorail over to the front side of Epcot and then we've got the villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa which are just like the Polynesian a boat ride or a monorail ride from the front of the Magic Kingdom or a monorail ride over to Epcot so the first thing to consider with picking a Disney Vacation Club property is the type of party you're traveling with so if you have small kids and you know that you're gonna be at the Magic Kingdom a lot I would recommend a hotel that is on the monorail loop because you can just hop on the monorail and get right to the front of the Magic Kingdom SuperDuper easy if you're somebody maybe it's an adult trip and you're not gonna be spending a whole lot of time at the parks but you're probably gonna spend more time at Disney Springs I would recommend ODE Key West or Saratoga Springs I'm just because they are super duper close to Disney Springs or if you got animal lovers you know Animal Kingdom villas those are great choices so it kind of just depends on your travel party for me we love Epcot Epcot's my favorite Park so we oftentimes gravitate towards Disney's boardwalk villas now you can see this is Disney's site here and you can see on the right hand side where it says rooms from 16 points per night 14 points per night 15 points per night so the lower the amount of points per night the less expensive the hotels are going to be so for example here we've got Jambo and Kidani Village points from nine points per night boardwalk is from ten old Keywest I believe is lower – yeah points from ten per night Saratoga Springs is 11 and you can see it starts to get a little more expensive when we're going with the more upscale hotels like our Grand Floridian 17 points per night and up so that's something to kind of keep in mind the amount of points you're going to be renting is basically the amount of dollars you are going to be paying all right so once you figure out where you want to stay that is the number one most important thing now we have to figure out when when do we want to stay and you can figure out when by looking at the vacation club point charts all right so this is a great website this is WW infocom i'll have all these links in the description of this video so I'm gonna look at the boardwalk because I love the boardwalk we've stayed there three times and it's a fantastic resort so you can see here on the left-hand side there are different seasons and this is basically from the lowest time of year with a ventured season from a crowd standpoint to the most busiest possible time of year which is like the thick of Spring Break and Christmas to New Year's this is the most popular time to visit Disney going down to the least crowded time at Disney and you can see the points reflect that too so if we look at a standard view deluxe studio villa at the boardwalk you can see during adventure season the weekly amount of points you would rent is seventy six right if we look at the premiere season the weekly points it's almost doubled right 150 points so it definitely goes up if you're gonna be going during a busy time of year so if you can at all swing it try to get down to Disney when school is still in session but if that is not an option you know you just work with what you have so what do these different room types mean so we've got deluxe studio we've got a one-bedroom we've got a two-bedroom we've got a grand villa let's take a look at them so a standard you know just normal studio Villa basically looks this so it comes with a queen size bed and a pull-out couch also has a kitchenette area with a separate sink so the kitchenette will have a microwave it'll have a mini-fridge it'll have some cabinets and things where you can put some stuff tickin store if you want to also has an ensuite bathroom as we would expect a couple of closets and a balcony now most of the rooms are around this size for a studio villa around 356 square feet which for a normal sized type of hotel room I mean that's a pretty good size the the exception to that would be old Key West old Key West is the original Disney Vacation Club property and the rooms there are a bit bigger but outside of that the rest of the properties are gonna be around the same size for a studio villa so we also have the option of doing a one bedroom villa this is the Grand Floridian example but it's all about the same really so the one bedroom villas have a separate single bedroom with a king-size bed rather than a queen-size bed the common area will have a sofa bed and some of them will have a pulldown Murphy bed like underneath the television also will have a full kitchen and will have an in suite washer and dryer which is so convenient I'll have a couple of closets and of course an attached bathroom some of them will have two bathrooms or a bath and a half depending on the villa and they all again have balcony and they kind of go up from there you've got a couple of other options with like a two bedroom room you've got a three bedroom Grand Villa you've got tree house you've got cabins like lots of different options so depending on the size of your travel party is where you want to go so my husband and I historically have stayed in a studio villa just the two of us and it's been fine plenty of space I would say you could probably fit four in there max comfortably I wouldn't go any more than that same idea with a one-bedroom unit you can kind of see the difference here so this right here is a 1-bedroom at Animal Kingdom so you can see that there's a full kitchen the bedroom is back there separate eating space and common area so you do get you know probably about twice as much space as you would have if you were to get a studio villa I hope that makes sense so you just kind of have to know you know how much space do you want for your family if it's just the two of you a studio Villa is great unless you want a kitchen which is where my husband and I want to be we want to have a kitchen when we go down to Disney the next time so we're gonna opt for a one-bedroom Villa but you know you just kind of have to decide that on your own so going back here to the boardwalk we are going to just do a little scenario here so let's say we want to stay at the boardwalk the first full week of December and that is 76 points for us for a standard view for the week if we wanted to have an upper scale view we could do a boardwalk or a pool view and that significantly increases the amount of points that are needed for that rental you can see it's 107 for a deluxe studio here at the boardwalk versus seventy-six so you just kind of have to keep that in mind if view is important to you and you really want to look over that boardwalk you can go with a hundred and seven points per night however for us we don't care about the view as I don't whatever doesn't matter to me so I'm opting for the seventy six points per night but this is you know we're just gonna kind of go with it here so let's say I want the first week of December and I want to stay in a deluxe studio at the boardwalk that's seventy six points so I'm gonna write down that number 76 on a post-it note and now I can figure out how to actually do the rental process so if you want to do the legwork yourself I recommend one of these two websites Dizz boards comm or Mouse owners comm both of these websites are great you do have to create a free account to be able to interact with the people you're renting from but you know that's fine that's fine it's super easy to create an account for both of these websites I have used both of them to rent points from they both been great so I'm going to use the mouse owners comm website just as an example here because I don't have to be logged in to see what I want to do so I'm going to look on here and see if anybody is renting boardwalk Villa points for December look at this this person is dare to dream 2009 is renting 221 boardwalk Villa points for $15 per point alright so if we go back to our chart here how many points do we need I want 76 I need to rent 76 points from this person so at $15 per point let's see how much that's going to be so for a week at the boardwalk in a studio Villa 76 points for the week times $15 per point is 1140 dollars so if I want to figure out how much that is per per night I'm gonna divide that number by 7 that's a hundred and sixty two dollars per night for staying in a studio villa at the boardwalk the first week of December so if I were to look over at Disney's website to see how much it would be to rent this same exact room from Disney World I actually already have it pulled up I'm cheating they want on average four hundred and seventy three dollars per night for a deluxe studio a standard view in December alright let's look at our calculator again so renting points I'm paying a hundred and sixty two dollars per night getting it from Disney I am paying four hundred and seventy three dollars per night so what is the savings on that I mean that's pretty substantial I mean that's over half savings by going this route and if you think about 160 some dollars a night that's pretty standard for like a big downtown type of hotel room right and you're getting such a great value out of it from a how good of your vacation is going to be standpoint staying here staying at the boardwalk versus staying at an off-site hotel somewhere when you think about if you stay at an off-site hotel you're gonna have to factor in twenty two dollars a day to park so you're already going to increase the amount you're paying per night at an off-site hotel adding twenty two dollars to that just to get to the park itself plus you're not going to have the perks of the extra magic hours and being able to make your Fast Pass reservation 60 days in advance and making your dining reservations 180 days in advance and all of these things you have to think about so it just makes sense so what I would do if I was going to you know talk to this person here from a privacy standpoint I'm not gonna open up their their link but what I would do is I would contact this dare to dream 2009 and say hey I want to stay at the boardwalk in a standard view studio from December you know first through you know whatever the 7th 8th whatever that first week is Saturday to Saturday it's 76 points there's two adults staying in this room can you check and make sure this is available for me they would get back to me say yeah it's available and you can say ok I want to go ahead and rent it and then you would do the transaction with this person via PayPal all right so you're not actually doing anything with Disney they are making the reservation for you in your name they will then email you the confirmation number you can tie it in to your Magic Band my Disney experience account they will send you magic bands it'll it's just like having a normal reservation through Disney except the person you're renting from does the reserving of the room for you ok so if you didn't want to go through this rigmarole of finding somebody to rent from through either Mouse owners or through Dysport you can use a broker to do this for you now you're gonna pay a little bit more per point per night because they're getting paid for their time for doing this reservation booking for you they're kind of like the middleman between you and people that are renting points but David's vacation rental says an amazing amazing job they are I believe they're based in Canada and their customer service is so nice and so helpful you can do live online chat with them and they can answer your questions and you basically just fill out a form and they do all the legwork for you so that's just another really viable option if you don't want to take the time to actually find an owner to rent from yourself now here's something to keep in mind when you're doing your your Vacation Club rentals you actually these rentals are non-refundable alright so when you make your reservation you just need to be set that you're gonna be going to Disney and if there is a possibility that you might need to cancel your trip you'll definitely want to get travel insurance so the website that I have used for my travel insurance in the past has been travel insured International we've had really good experience with travel insured we had to cancel our trip in in September of this past year because of Hurricane Emma and so we had to do a claim with travel insured but we got 100% of the non-refundable cost of our room back from travel insurance so I highly recommend if you have medical conditions if you have any possible reason that you might need to cancel your trip getting travel insurance in addition to renting your points it's not very expensive I think for the entire week for both my husband and I total it was under $100 to have this and just having that peace of mind was very very helpful for us and we did need to use it we had to cancel our trip because of circumstances that were out of our control so we've actually had to do that twice now we've had to cancel our trips twice now and travel ensured his come through for us both times so I can't recommend them enough [Applause] thank you guys so so much for hanging out with me today I hope from walking investments to wasted dollars there are definitely some Disney money-saving tips that you hear all the time that can absolutely backfire on you so here on DFP guide today we're gonna help you avoid that peril here we go hey everybody it's AJ from Disney food blog and we have money-saving tips for you all the time here on DFB guide but remember there are some sneaky ways that those tips can fail you if you're not implementing them correctly so we wanted to make sure you guys had all the news and updates you need to make sure that your investments are working for you when it comes to saving Disney dollars first up the Disney Dining Plan now this is a way to prepay for your food in Walt Disney World and you add it on to one of your Disney room stays or packages and the idea of having all your meals prepaid before your trip can be a huge weight off of your shoulders you don't have to worry about pulling out your wallet all the time and you can just relax once you get there but this one's difficult remember Disney is not going to push a deal like this unless they know they're going to profit from it so you're definitely going to want to crunch those numbers this is not a guaranteed money-saving choice because sometimes the Disney Dining Plan will actually end up costing you more than if you paid for your food out of pocket so there's several ways that this can happen one of the most common ways is that the Disney Dining Plan may not be the best deal for vegetarians or Lite eaters so vegetarian entrees are typically going to be cheaper than the meat based items on the menu and you can bet Disney is using the average entree price to work out how much the Disney Dining Plan costs yep they are going to see how much the average person eats in Disney World they have all of that data and they're going to up it they're going to make you pay for the Disney Dining Plan a higher level than what the average person is going to eat so that they're going to make more money that's just how business works so unless you're ready to eat all of that food that's on the Disney Dining Plan it may not be the best deal for you plus portions are huge in Disney World and the standard Disney Dining Plan includes dessert with your table service meals along with a specialty beverage so if you don't often order dessert or a glass of wine or alcohol with dinner or your counter service lunch then you're gonna be leaving money on the table unless you're ordering those really expensive entrees and using every last snap credit with some great valued snacks so there's lots of ways to lose money on the Disney Dining Plan Disney make sure of that so our D F bi to Walt Disney World dining as you guys know has some great sample price breakdowns with estimated costs for each meal for a family of four for a week trip that can really help you decide if the Disney Dining Plan is going to suit your family or if maybe you're gonna be spending too much for the Dining Plan and instead want to pay out of pocket so if you do decide that the Disney Dining Plan is too much food for your family and you probably won't spend that much if you pay for your food out of pocket you can use other discounts to save money on food there are restaurant LT programs and affinity group discounts that offers some great money-saving options and bringing your own snacks having a light breakfast in the room and other tips that we've offered here on D F be guided in the DFB guide to Walt Disney World dining eBook will really really help out when you're trying to save some cash on your dining okay so let's take Disney Dining Plan one step further and talk about the free dining offer now this is an offer that Disney puts out about once a year where you can get a free dining plan with your room and tickets Disney World package so we often say that free dining is usually a good deal which for us it usually is but you've still got to crunch those numbers because this money saving tip can also backfire you will end up paying full price for your room don't forget that so when you're crunching those numbers remember that you're not gonna get any annual pass holder discounts or any of the other discounts that Disney is running right now on hotel room deals also that package is going to require you to purchase a park hopper ticket and if you aren't already planning on getting Park hoppers or if you have an annual pass already then the free dining money-saving may not balance out for you and remember room only discounts can be a better deal even if free dining is offered so oftentimes during the slower season january/february also when free dining was offered in 2019 and when it's being offered for UK residents in 2020 you can score some really great room only discounts up to 35 or 40% off at some deluxe resorts so check those room only discounts make sure that those are not going to give your family a better deal than a free dining discount which includes full rack rate room and park hopper tickets for everybody in the room you want to make sure that room only discount isn't gonna be a better deal for you now other packages that look great on the front may not be so great when you look into them so other special room offers sometimes require preferred room locations and those costs can add up for example there's a summer quick service special right now that requires a preferred room but the deal may not be worth it for one quick service meal per day if that preferred room is gonna cost you more than a regular hotel room would if you weren't on the package or if there's only one person in the room now here's another little room issue that you're gonna have to watch out for if you decide to wait to book your vacation for free dining or room discounts to be released you might miss out on the room you really wanted or the deal never comes around Disney's pretty unpredictable these days with galaxy's edge a whole bunch of new rides opening you never really know when they're gonna release those deals even if historically they've released them on a specific date so if you're hoping for a free dining deal know that they release deals about four to six months ahead of when the stay window opens so you might want to book that room you really want and then wait to hear about the package deals once you hear about the package deals you can always cancel and rebook or apply the new discount to the room you've already booked so go ahead and book a room ahead of time get the one you want and then see if you're able to apply the discount to that package all right next money saving tip that can backfire is splitting your meals so if you're paying out of pocket and looking at prices it might be tempting to split meals and we often recommend doing this as something that can save you money and still fill up your family but be sure that the portions are large enough there's no point in splitting if your crew is hungry two hours later you know on DFB disney food blog we always put pictures of the food so you can see how large the portions are and if you have some adults who are light eaters in your group try ordering a kid's meal from quick service locations these are smaller portions and prices plus the with a drink and usually a side dish as well now if you're traveling with some super hungry kids and using the Disney Dining Plan the kids and adults quick services are the same which means kiddos can order items from the adult menu and get a much larger portion or split it between two kids and get double the credits now some things are totally splittable and sharing is definitely encouraged like the pizzas at via Napoli those are $29 to $45 for a large or Metzl Metro Pizza that can serve up to four people the plaza loaded fries at Plaza restaurant are nine dollars and they're huge and kitchen sink Sunday at beaches and cream this is 34 dollars right now and serves four so those are some good ideas of things to split that actually break down to cost a little less when you split them and also here's another tip you need to know you can split meals at any quick-service restaurant no problem because they're not gonna follow you to your table and see if you're splitting it or not and it's also no problem for an adult to order off the kids menu add a quick service restaurant but remember that at table service restaurants this tip can backfire some table service cast members will either not allow you to split a table service meal or may charge you extra for splitting a table service meal so it may not be just the cost of the table service meal Disney doesn't really have an official policy that we've seen on table service meal splitting so it really is up to the cast member in the manager at that resort and remember if you are at an all-you-can-eat restaurant or a buffet you absolutely cannot split one purchase between two people if two people are dining there two people will be charged it is worth noting that kids two and under can share at an all-you-can-eat restaurant or buffet essentially they can eat off your plate at those locations but they get a drink as well so don't worry about adding them to the Disney Dining Plan if you get it but do add them to your dining reservation so you'll get seated at the correct sized table and they get that drink all right the next money saving tip that can backfire is the free water tip okay so we're always telling you here on DFB about the free water around the park don't spend crazy high water bottle prices and definitely don't use your snack credits on water bottles but you also might want to know that some of those free water stations in the parks can taste pretty bad Florida water Orlando water specifically sometimes has a weird flavor to it that some folks don't like so little tip to make this one not backfire some folks here on our team bring water flavoring with them which is definitely still cheaper than buying a bottle of water on property but if you're trying to save some cash you don't want to drink flavored water all day consider ordering groceries to your resort now you can order water bottles ahead of time and have them delivered to your resort by using several of the grocery delivery services just know that a $6 per box feet can apply to some deliveries at your hotel so be sure to call concierge or talk to your front desk to see what costs may apply to getting that delivered but still 24 bottles of water even with a 6 dollar box fee is still gonna cost you a lot less than 24 bottles of water in the Disney parks also another great tip if you use specific grocery delivery services like Amazon fresh or garden grocer or shipped those services have a set delivery window and they're dropped at bail services who will refrigerate the items that need to be refrigerated and frozen so if you order from one of those grocery delivery services there's no box feed they'll just go ahead and store that stuff until you call them to bring it up to your room but please be sure to tip your Bell services person they really go to a lot of effort to make sure that refrigerated and frozen items are held appropriately and there's really no cost for that so we definitely try to tip significantly because we know that a lot of effort goes into that all right the next money saving tip that can backfire is buying souvenirs ahead of time it can be a great idea to buy souvenirs ahead of time for those little ones directly from the Disney Store or from discount Disney outlets where you'll find some of the same items that are sold in the parks and the best part you can get a discount on those things Disney Store calm is off and running big sales on parks Pacific merchandise so just pack it in your suitcase and pull it out when you arrive but kids are still going to request pricey and Park souvenirs when you're there so you'll likely end up spending to get those so either let the little ones know that you have your souvenirs with you and they can get them at specific times when they're in the parks or let them know that they have a budget $10 $15 whatever you want to make it for them to spend when they're in the parks and all other souvenirs are gonna be ones that were pre-purchased now luckily there are some inexpensive options you can steer kids toward like pressed pennies or smaller stuffed animals but be ready for them to ask for the three hundred and fifty dollar playsets or a two hundred dollar lightsaber and speak with them ahead of time about whether or not those are in your budgets and the last thing we want to talk about some Disney money-saving options that may backfire on you our Disney investments things like annual passes Disney Vacation Club our tables in Wonderland and honestly if we're gonna take this out to its extreme even the popcorn buckets in the parks now these can all be a good investment if you use them and there's plenty of great discounts and perks but only if you take advantage of that you really need to crunch those numbers to be sure you're going to use the investment because remember you could be investing that money and something else that will grow your dollars faster this is particularly the case with Disney Vacation Club now let's talk about annual passes specifically here the recent annual pass price hike means you need to visit the parks even more to break-even but if you're a local or semi local or even if you're planning to trips within a year of each other you might be able to save using an annual pass rather than regular park tickets so this also might mean you might be able to save a little bit if you purchase an annual pass rather than regular park tickets but remember these specific tips this also might mean you end up booking more last-minute trips because you've got to get use out of it and you'll pass you bought and this is Disney's business plan by the way for annual passes you might end up spending a lot more on Disney hotels and food than you would have if you didn't have an annual pass that thing burns a hole in your pocket and you really want to use it when you have it so if you typically go to Disney World once a year you might consider getting an annual pass and bumping up that second trip by a few weeks to get both trips in the same calendar year plus you'll get memory maker valuable discounts on food merchandise in hotel rooms etc and remember only one person in your group needs to have the pass to get all of those discounts you don't need to get annual is for the whole family if you're not gonna be able to do those two trips in the same year and also remember if you have an annual pass you can also get a tables in Wonderland card which gives you 20% off food and beverage at table service and lounge locations around Disney World now this can be a great discount opportunity but again only if you really use it and understand how to use it so the card costs Florida residents one hundred and seventy five dollars and Annual Pass holders and DBC members one hundred and fifty so Florida residents would need to spend eight hundred and seventy five dollars an annual pass holder DVC member seven hundred and fifty dollars on food in a calendar year with the card in order to break even so there are just a few of those ways that all of those money-saving tips for Disney World can backfire so be sure to look at those before you make those choices and before you lay out your dollars again there's so much to plan for Disney World there's so much to figure out before you go to make sure you're getting the biggest bang for your buck we always try to help you here in DFP guide with our videos we also have plenty of blog
