okay hi guys and welcome to the show in today's episode the wristwatch talk I'm going to share my top 5 tips for you to save money and get that watch you've always wanted now of course before I get into the video I've got to do wrist watch check and I am indeed doing a Schwarzkopf if you're new to the channel it's when I wear two watches I call it Schwarzkopf in honor of general Schwarzkopf storming Norman today I've got a really cool combination the Jubilee bracelet for my GMT has indeed arrived so I'm chuffed to bits really enjoying it and the jubilees it's got that flimsy feel I just love it and then of course I have my casio databank very retro but actually very useful because I've got all the stopwatch functions and five alarms that I use to remind me because my memory is terrible so it's very useful for reminding me throughout the day's work-related deadlines that kind of thing this was a Christmas gift again chuffed a bit so what a pair what a pair indeed anyway wristwatch check done let's roll the intro and get into the day's video so my top five tips that I personally use to save for that next watch now before we get into this I've got to say one thing whatever you do it's much better to always save never get into debt for buying watch it's just not worth it you know you're going to end up spending more you got interest to think about you're putting yourself in a weak position financially and one must never do that for a wristwatch it's simply not worth it if you cannot afford that what you want be patient wait and save a look for ten dollars buy a Casio f91 W has a set what is it seven-year battery I can't remember I've reviewed it it will last you it will tell you more accurate time than any Swiss timepiece just hang in there save and trust me that the feeling of accomplishment is is worth it it really is and it makes that final destination of getting to that watch that little bit sweeter so hang in there save and hopefully these five tips will help you these are not in order of priority so please guys you know put them in your own order of importance this is just merely for my own reference so we'll start at number five whenever you get paid or you get some money incoming always put some a little bit aside and it's important to do it as soon as you get paid make sure you split that money up what I like to do I like to put aside a little bit of money every week whenever I get paid for anything with work when I get my wages I put a little bit aside each and every time for the watch I'm saving for look at it like this if you save just 25 dollars a week in a month you've got a hundred dollars in a year you've got twelve hundred dollars that is a really nice Oris Aquos if you want to save up quicker than put more money aside so it really mounts up another great little tip is to always save your change this is my 1930s lucky Joe this is the Joe Lewis boxer I put all my change actually I put my quarters in here you will not believe how fast this thing fills up and before you know it you know you've got 50 bucks 20 50 bucks to put towards your watch fund always put something aside and start a watch fund have a little private stash Noorie has to know you know maybe a little box hidden under the mattress an extra saving account at the bank perhaps anything a little stash somewhere you put that money in every week you're really good you can put aside some money every single day so get that started get that organized and have your funds in one place and never take money from it just put money in that's crucially important the only time you take the money out is when you've got enough money and you go to buy that timepiece that you've set that you know as a goal okay so that was number five number four consolidation now this really applies to collectors that have been collecting a while if you're new to collecting this will not apply to you yet but if you have a collection look at what you got consolidate it are their watches that are overlapping other watches that you don't wear that much then they need to go never have safe Queens and what do I mean by safe Queen it's a watch usually of high value that sits in a safe watches are supposed to be worn if you're not wearing it sell it the only time I think you know is a legitimate excuse as if you're if you bought a watch as an investment if it's something very rare maybe you shouldn't wear then of course keep it in the safe but look if it's a safe queen and it's not being worn sell it honestly some of you may want to keep watches to hand down the next generation but guys always remember if you inherit a watch you want the watch that was worn by your father or your grandfather or your relative because then it adds that extra sentimental value what what uses it if it's sitting in a safe and it was never worn by the person you know that belonged to so rarely look at your collection sometimes I know we we fall in love with watches but you've got to be ruthless sometimes you have to make a sacrifice in order to get that what you really really want and I think overlapping watches is a is a thing that a lot of collectors experience you know you'll have several divers all in different colors do you really need them you know to really need them I'm trying to unbanning with this as we speak and actually it's about time I do a new state of the collection I'll probably do it next month some of you may might be shocked but I have actually managed to consolidate quite a bit it's not easy sometimes you have to you know because we love these pieces but sometimes you've got to be ruthless you have to have no mercy you know for the greater good for the collection further down the road you know don't and don't worry about ticking boxes when collecting because then you start buying things done in a way you don't even need so consolidation very very important okay that was number four number three by smart and this applies not just the collecting watches do your research don't ever do impulse buys you know wait try watches on get out there go to stores do as much research looking Pro no.24 look on ebay checkout watch dealers always buy from reputable dealers and buy used let somebody else take the retail price hit for you you know you can save the hell of a lot of money and if you save money you can buy that watch sooner because you have to save less it's obvious right it's basic economics research and you shop around you can find a better deal and it's going to be sooner to that moment that you finally get that watch so always buy smart I've seen this I've made this mistake by quality not quantity okay it is worth sometimes to hold out to go all the way you know with my GMC for example I went through a lot of GM T's and IKEA had to come to the realization that this is the one for me other times I had to comment the other day from a supporter of the channel they were lusting after the Rolex GMT they bought a glycine airman which is another connick watch and they've actually been satisfied with that watch ever since they actually found that the one they wouldn't you know that they really wanted was not the the one they thought so sometimes it can work you know you have to experience as many watches as you as you can so it's a balance you but the more you know the more your experience the more you research you do the more you get out there and the wider net you cast the more chances that you're going to find that right watch you can save a hell of a lot of money if you just is it's like that Tarantino quote you've got to come to terms with your own fears and desires don't rush into things don't make impulse buys buy smart buy used especially okay so that was number three number two and that is not to settle specifically Hamas watches now I don't want to get in the whole discussion you know some people love them some people loathe them some people don't mind them I'm I don't mind I'm kind of on the fence I it really depends on the situation for example I bought a Steinhardt homage to the Rolex explorer reference one six five five you know the Steve McQueen now that watch it's a 15 grand watch used over there they're about right it's a watch that I wasn't really sure about I wanted to kind of scratch that itch so I bought the Steinhardt I since sold the Steinhardt but in a way it saved me a hell of a lot of money because I realized actually you know what I don't want that watch you know it's not the right GMT I ended up going with this one in the end but if you're saving up for something of a few grand let's say you're saving up for a used date just right don't spend $500 on a homage put that $500 towards and save you know get an affordable alternative just get it an entry-level Seiko citizen you know day date with a fluted bezel or that looks similar to your your date just right for the moment that was served but we find don't spend hundreds and one hundred and hundreds you know five six hundred dollars on a homage watch save that money because every bit you save it's less time that you have to wait to getting the final thing it's a balance don't settle sometimes you got to be strong at the same time there are people that just refused point-blank they do not want us buy a Rolex Submariner they have family commitments they have financial commitments they they just don't feel justified in spending that amount of money but yet they want a little bit of that Submariner feel you've got to come to terms with what's important for you so maybe settling is excusable in that regard but generally if your savings stick to your guns okay number one and it's absolutely obvious and that is to cut down on expenditure everywhere else what do I mean by that you know if you order takeaways cut down learn to cook at home yourself you can save a hell of a lot of money going to Starbucks I did a video a long long time ago showing it with you know a little investment in the BLET espresso maker you can make much better coffee at home you know that overrated Starbucks rubbish he's spending five ten dollars every time you go into Starbucks make it yourself say all all of this saves money and you can put towards that final Grail watch right a little bit there like that old British saying look after the pennies and they will look after the pound for example you're going out to a bar have some wine before you go you know don't have and you know how expensive it is it's ridiculous actually the same goes for going to restaurants but but don't be so frugal that you never take your loved ones out you know I like to go on dates with my wife maybe instead of every week go every other week making a little a little sacrifice there little sacrifice here but at the end a it's a balance you have to live life is short okay it's about prioritizing it's about you know mate unless get on top of the situation and when you have an overview of your finances you can really understand where you can cut corners every time you cut back save a little bit money that's more money to put into your your stash your little your private watch fund all right and always keep it private you know it's a little tip and keeping them back in mind whenever buying anything ask yourself do I really need this do I need the second car do I need you know another pair of I don't know John lobs or whatever it is honestly I I try and live quite minimally you know I have a small apartment I do spend a lot of money in watches but that's because it's important to me you've got to prioritize you've got to think about what is important to you there are a million things that you can save money on you know instead of going to the gym I I work out at home I mean I love gyms anyway but the more I can be self reliant on things the better after a little one and saved a little bit here a little bit there it all mounts up and you will get that watch anyway guys a very quick video I just wanted to address these fine little tips that I pretty much do every week every day always keep in the back your mind keep your eye on the prize and you will get that watch guys please do share your bits of advice in the comments below I'd love to hear your feedback specially on this let's try and help as many people as we can save and get that watch no matter what it is no matter if it's a Langeais or a Rolex or a Seiko sumo thank you very very much watching please don't forget to like this video if you enjoyed it and found it useful and as always guys I will catch you in the next one okay ciao
We asked for your back-to-school shopping tips – here they are.
Use our simple planner to help you set a budget for school essentials:
The Money Advice Service is set up by government and offers free and impartial advice, tips and budget planners for all life’s money matters. We’re here to help you make better financial decisions.
Candice: I usually would make a list to make sure I don't overbuy and I just buy the things that I need
cos I don't want her to think that money grows on trees. So, I budget and hopefully she'll learn to do the same thing
as she grows older. Hazel: There were always summer sales
and that's when I used to get the shoes. A half-size larger – very important –
cos they seem to grow terribly in the summer. And uniforms. Gill: Whenever I shop I look for school uniforms throughout the year
and always buy ahead. So if there's a size two years older I'll buy it, maybe put the hems up, and then can lower the hems when the kids start. Brenda: If it's black or grey, which most of them are,
you can get them in supermarkets. You don't always have to go to proper school shops. And what a lot of schools are doing now, when children leave,
they're put in like a shop, for – I know they are second hand –
but you can buy them second hand from the shop, which is a lot, lot cheaper. Avelia: You're looking online or looking through –
you know, there's all those superstore-type shops – they have lots of different things,
so sometimes it's just finding who's got the best deal.
My advice is this: Settle! That’s right. Don’t worry about passion or intense connection. Don’t nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling “Bravo!” in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It’s hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who’s changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.)
Obviously, I wasn’t always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry’s Kids aren’t going to walk, even if you send them money. It’s not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it’s downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality.
Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there’s supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn’t feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it’s unlikely.
And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she’ll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It’s equally questionable whether Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
an inside look at the life of a person who lives with a high profile offensive coordinator of a Division one school that last year turned down three million dollars to be a head coach for a year and we know that day will come for him but today we're going to talk to one of his major keys to success she says his key to success not really but today it's a privilege dad Christy mouths on with us her passion however is that life is that God has given each other for them to walk alongside of each other in life she left the business world and now his focus on opportunities to serve and make a difference with a life she's done all kinds of there you go thanks my kids are just a challenge a minute and absolutely they're they're great but they're kids and they're out of my house thank you lord I'm enjoying the empty nest thing it's really not that bad so all you people who are thinking it's bad it's not so they come in and I'm like what are you doing here you need to go I pay rent on a house for you over there salvia that's good yeah I love honesty yeah Oh guess was like you know I was laughing telling somebody the other day we've kind of looked at writing a book called you people are freaking nuts life from inside the fishbowl because I still stand in amazement that anybody would dare to want my husband's autograph I mean seriously why but at the same time I'm looking at these kids going I know that they're special but at the same time these are the same children that you're excited to get out of your homes like me because their college and I'm ready to get them out they're just kids and they do stupid immature things and at the same time they have an incredible amount of ability and what our job is what we see it as is that were to take what has been given to them as their foundation some of them come with no foundation and so then we're charged with helping establish a foundation so that they know from this point forward your DNA is all that you have to say that you had no choice over from this point forward everything in your life is a choice your DNA's only thing that God just said that's it no choice guess who's like that's pretty cool we got to go to lose house and dr. Lu you know give us a little side note on the inside guess was way impressed and I kept saying he had to lift something there's something going on with his mouth I can't really understand what he say it s was like shut up but um since then you know I hear him and he it's he can't help it so but i guess was like shut guess is in the office usually by 7 15 in the morning is there this year he's been through a lot later it's probably about one o'clock in the morning and he's rolling in and sleeping and not very soundly and he's back up and this week I think it's probably been even worse no no pressure there don't know why he would do that but um you know a little film with him and you know that was so stupid why'd he do that you know and we he gets no grace there we're all three you've trained as well honey we expect perfection perform so Phoenix Auburn won the national championship game on the last play of the game with the offensive showdown yeah the office of showdown one so 20-point Emily was a family was in the room and what you said to Gus after they won the national championship on a field goal the door 23 points really that's what happened what are you are you serious that was our conversation and he looked at me seriously we just won the national championship yeah but this was supposed to be we're in an Auburn offensive showdown because both these defenses really aren't very good and 22 points what are you kidding field goal really and he tells this story he brought it up I wasn't going to tell everybody that he what he tells it all of his alumni people and thinks it's so funny that I'm psychotic but whatever I told y'all this would be interesting now you know it's true it's all right with Chris guess was like shut up gus was like you just had the hospital fee winner No Deal a bell ma'am Newton and obviously there there are few people that know cam newton like you and Gus Malzahn no cam newton why don't you tell us your thoughts about cam at a table with him the day that he was recruited and truthfully he was recruited for less than two weeks and coach chizik did not want him because he did not have a quarterback and especially on a JUCO quarterback on the plan and he called me crying the week before the first game and was you know whinin I can't make him happy and it just then like man you know I'm like yeah well welcome to my world deal with it yeah I guess was like michael dyer incredibly a lifetime of michael dyer yeah he's pretty good it's pretty good but he's you know I know York thought people I've read that does not boo him cuz he loves the attention i'm on twitter I've read that it's okay he has a little bit of an attitude he carries himself with a little confidence that we have to kick around every now and then but he is a great kid I guess was like and then we have shallow Christians Garrett Harper there tell us about he wet he was a traveling team person I'm not supposed to probably make a big dog fact that we had in the fifties scholarship players on that trip last week but it was a big deal to me that's not normal everybody ladies that don't know you should not have 50s as your number of scholarship players but we traveled with 50 and Garrett Harper as a walk-on showed up and played and he's just Garrett is it solid he's leading in a way that is drawn kids in guess was like we love you but I'm not just saying that blows Mincy marmot you know um he you know we don't have the meltdown because guess won't let the kids go on the best and you want to go shopping with the wives right now but I did anyway at the same pionship game and Judy still reminds guess of that you were so rude to her love that need that support every now and then but you know just women who came alongside to webbing mentor and say sure ma'am don't talk so much you know kind of thing but sure you know the Proverbs word yeah yeah it's good so working on guess was like and it goes to a place of questioning his integrity and his character and his intelligence because a group of 18 to 22 year olds did not perform on the field like they should have and if you've worked with kids if you've worked 18 22 year old individuals most the time they're not the most intelligent people that are out there anyway and it's it's depending on who said what and what girlfriend broke up with who and what kind of emotional state we come into it which I just I do at times look at yes ago we're the nuts because we're we're willing to base our whole entire lives of what they decide to do for the day so you know again guess was like you know I know that y'all hate man but we hate them worse trust me it's bad but people are like dying I mean they're killing trees AR trees they kill them over a game seriously people grow up but we I've got kids who we had our defensive coordinators children on their little league team a dad literally turned the kid around saw this last time was worth and would not shake his hand because he was an Alabama fan and this is the opposing team and I'm like and you're the grownup right again you know it's album and I'd struggle love it but you know guess was like what is your pregame ritual at recruiting recruiting two and a half hours before the game starts I love it all right so guess was like best are you ready best after game celebration spot Toomer's Corner addiction street never went to Dickson Street I've only been to sumers corner about three hours after the game so neither one are in the middle at all what was the University of Auburn's original name do you know it the what the original name my present now yeah I mean it's somebody so you just say you don't know it I don't know it's Alabama polytechnical history had Alabama in their name sweet that's why they changed it I don't blame heart who who will win who will win the game this year of Alabama and LSU personally I think Alabama will because I think they're more well-rounded but let me tell you after watching you know we played Mississippi State and then we watched them play LSU the next week and I called guests and he obviously was not watching the game was working and preparing for Clemson and I said oh I need to find a way out of that game because that's going to be their defense is like mm they're scary but then again it is LSU and every year they should be at the top of the pile according to my husband that's all I have to do is going to walk out in their braids go well it's like uuuu done you know kind of thing so it really should not be that difficult but they do struggle some and I think it might be because somebody's eating some grass or something you got to be a football fan to appreciate that now one final question guess was like guess was like shut up
