A woman in Virginia thought she won $20,000 on her lotto scratch off ticket but she wasn’t rewarded the money. CNN’s Anderson Cooper explains why not.
>>> TIME NOW FOR THE RETURN OF THE RIDICULOUSIST. A TIME HONOR ED AMORISM OF EASY COME, EASY GO. A WOMAN BOUGHT A TWO DOLLAR LOTTERY TICKET AND WAS THRILLED WHEN SHE FOUND SHE MATCHED ONE OF THE NUMBERS AND WON $20,000. >> YOU WDON'T KNOW HOW EXCITED WAS. I HAVE A SISTER, I COULD HELP HER WITH HER MEDICAL BILLS. >> SO THAT'S REALLY SWEET. SHE WANTED TO USE THE MONEY TO HELP HER SISTER. EVEN THOUGH THE TICKET CLEARLY SHOWS THAT SHE WON $20,000, WHEN SHE WENT TO COLLECT HER HER WINNINGS, THEY SAID THERE WAS A MISTAKE AND THE TICKET WAS ISSUED IN ERROR. LET'S JUST SAY E'M NOT SURE I WANT TO LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE YOU CAN'T EVEN TRUST YOUR SCRATCHOFF TICKETS ANYMORE. >> THIS IS WHAT A NORMAL TICKET IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE. THIS IS THE TICKET THAT NEWMAN BOUGHT WITH THE WINNING NUMBERS AT THE BOTTOM SUGGESTING THAT THE MACHINE CUT THE CARDS IN THE WRONG SPOT. >> JUST LIKE THAT. LIKE SO MUCH SILVER SCRATCHOFF DUST BLOWING INTO THE WINDS. THE MACHINE MAYBE CUT THE TICKET IN THE WRONG SPOT. WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS HOW THAT QUALIFIES AS ARDELLA'S PROBLEM AND NOT A VIRGINIA LOTTERY PROBLEM. AND SHE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THAT, AS WELL. >> IF YOU LOOK AT THE TICKET, IT SAYS I WON THIS MONEY. I WANT WASN'T ANYTHING THAT I DID WRONG. IT WAS WHAT THEY DID WRONG. >> COULDN'T AGREE MORE. NOT SINCE THE CONNORS WON THE LOTTERY ON "ROSEANNE" HAVE I BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED. ARDELLA HAS FILED A COMPLAINT. I CAN CAN ONLY HOPE THEY'RE SENDING OUT THEIR TOP LOTTERY DETECTIVES TO DUST FOR FINGERPRINTS AND

i live in richmond, va and have played the lottery for 19 years.
the ticket was cut wrong! she scratched the bottom of the ticket and saw the cash code beside the bar scan code. the bar scan code and the cash code (three letter code bpz, bpd) say the ticket is a loser. and she definitely plays the lottery enough to know that.
however, va lottery knew that those tickets were printed wrong, and decided to sell them knowing that no prizes could be collected.
the va lottery should give the lady $10,000- she knew it was a losing ticket, va lotto should have a way to verify the tickets are printed accurately.. if she sues for millions, she should be awarded $20,000 (her prize she would have won) and have to pay her attorney and court fees.

The winning numbers for the green card are not known. The winning numbers seen at the bottom are for the card that was cut off. Even the reporter says the winning numbers should be at the top.
The winning numbers for the green card should not be at the bottom–those numbers are for the card under the perforation.

The reporter is a idiot she shouldn't get the 20k for a simple mistake she should at least get her money back just imagine the other person getting their lottery ticket with no winning numbers so should automatically say "I should get 20k for getting a card without winning numbers. You can even see where the machine was supposed to cut the ticket on her photocopy of it this why reporters should be unbiased lol

Does not matter what the bar code says. The TICKET rules state that if you match you win. Case closed. I had a friend who bought a misprinted ticket that said match 2 (not 3) and win the prize. The lotto said no, misprint. He sued them and got his Million… What the ticket says is what the ticket is, otherwise it is misleading advertising and they are open to class action lawsuit from everyone who ever bought a lottery ticket. but looking at the ticket, Not a ligit cut on the ticket. She obviously bought two tickets off the "roll" and either they didnt separate them at the store or they are both in on it. If you are going to try to scam the system, at least buy a $1 utility knife and make the cuts square and clean.

You can totally see that it was ripped and there was a line in the bottom of it where the new card started…..

they just cant say that! black and white it won! they should be ordered by a court to pay! and fix the machine on their own time!

the ticket is ripped, it's obviously 2 different tickets. you can see the perforation. sucks, but the machine cut it wrong. it's that simple. it's not a winner, anyone who thinks it is, is out of their mind

Anderson Cooper is sofa king stewpit. It was two different tickets cut in the wrong place. Anyone can buy a string of tickets and find a number from one that belongs to the other ticket, then just cut them in two. Its not the lottery’s fault. It might be the fault of the person loading the lottery machine or who tore them off the reel. Anderson is as fake as CNN
